CARDIOLOGY
Cardiology is the branch of medicine that deals with the examination and treatment of cardiovascular system disorders, especially the heart, vessels, and arteries. It focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases ranging from congenital defects, considered a subspecialty in internal medicine, to heart disease, including congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. Meanwhile, cardiology specialists are specialized in cardiology and responsible for the medical management of various heart diseases. They perform diagnostic tests, interpret and perform interventional procedures, including angioplasty. They are different from cardiac surgeons performing chest and heart surgeries.
Diseases diagnosed and treated by cardiologists include:
Cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, aneurysm, deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins, and vasculitis
Congenital heart defects, Coronary circulatory disorders such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS), angina pectoris (ischemia), atherosclerosis (plaque build-up in blood vessels), coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction and restenosis, Disorders of the heart valves, including aortic, mitral, pulmonary, and tricuspid valvesMyocardial (heart muscles) disorders such as cardiomyopathy (disruption of the myocardium) and myocardial rupture, Pericardial (outer lining of the heart) disorders including pericardial effusion, pericardial effusion, and pericarditis. Disorders related to or related to a cardiac arrest involving asystole (absence of electrical activity), pulse ventricular tachycardia (no pulse) and ventricular fibrillation
Heart failure
Primary tumors of the heart
Ventricular hypertrophy (left and right)
